Being the Rector of this perspective University, I am overwhelmed with honor and excitement to lead the University into spectacular future of collaboration between academic teaching staff, students, alumni, and friends not only within the Russian Federation, but also with our colleagues from abroad.

 

Pitirim Sorokin Syktyvkar State University, which has got the status of the Russian flagship university (among only 33 Russian HEIs), is a leading research university that combines high-quality science, research and education and offers you a wide variety of study programs, and you can be involved in research activity under the guidance of experienced scientists, teachers and professors, you will take part in interesting youth projects and implement them into the real life. Our main goal is to create an up-to-date higher school based on a classical university.

 

Pitirim Sorokin Syktyvkar State University today is on the threshold of serious reforms. The way of reformation has never been easy. But I am sure that by combining our resources, we can seriously increase the level of higher education in the Republic of Komi. The Republic of Komi needs a qualitatively new institution of higher education that has the potential of its own development and is able to provide the economy and social sector with qualified personnel. Our University has a strong research and management potential in order to solve this issue.

I think that the main criterion of universities evaluation is the demand for graduates on the labor market. It is important that an applicant has an idea about his future perspectives after graduation. We provide a wide range of training areas to school leavers. Our children should understand that by staying in the Republic, they can get good education and a decent job. We strive for providing our students with individual assistance in starting and building their careers. Our goal is to assist our students in becoming critical thinkers and committed intellectuals within the framework of a professional, streamlined, student-friendly educational system, using the teaching methods of the 21st century.

We are convinced that education exists only in an international context, thus we are prepared to accept a gradually increasing number of international students. We see the internationalization of the entire university community as one of its main goals and mobility as the essential requirement to successfully achieve this international objective. That is why, Pitirim Sorokin Syktyvkar State University regularly takes part in the international partnership programs and cooperation. About 40 international scientific educational projects are being held at the University. Fields of international scientific cooperation include: Ecology, Biology, Chemistry, Medicine, Economics, Philology, and Art.
